The Rare Book and Manuscript Room of the Butler Library of Columbia University houses a large collection of Latin inscriptions on stone and lead and a few Greek texts. Latin inscriptions on bronze andlead and stamped terracotta (bricks, tiles, Arretine ware) are held by the Art Properties Department of the university elsewhere on campus. The authors are highly analytical and the book seems to be very discriminating and careful in its production of evidence of ancient scripts in carvings on rocks and objects in America, appearing to use languages of European and middle East origin, but the book contains absolutely no information on the credentials of the authors, their identities being about as mysterious as the people they write about/5(2).
